Guillermo has always been passionate about cooking. Growing up, he prepared delicious meals for his friends and his family. When he moved from Mexico to San Diego, he started off by busing and waiting tables. “But, I always wanted to create something for me,” Guillermo commented. He finally decided to take a leap of faith and open up his own restaurant, La Perla Cocina Mexicana. He is proud of using fresh ingredients in each of his recipes. “My first year was a little hard,” Guillermo recalled. “We built the place, and I didn’t have enough money to make it because we spent all of the money on the construction.” Guillermo and his team worked hard to grow the restaurant through word of mouth marketing to survive that first year. With one successful restaurant under his belt, Guillermo was ready to open another one. When he received a working capital offer from BriteCap, he decided to apply right away.
