Small Business Saturday is one of the busiest sales days of the year. It can be as big as Black Friday or Cyber Monday. As a small business owner, plan and strategize how to make this a big day for your business. On this special Saturday, customers are urged to shop with you, so this is your time to shine.  Take advantage of the hype around this day and remind your customers who you are, what you offer and why they should buy from you.

Here are just a few things you can do to show your customers that you are a small business owner they should support:

  • Plan your promotions. Small Business Saturday is a special day—plan some promotions around it, and you’ll reap the benefits. Promotions can range from giving an item away to the first 20 shoppers in your store; special refreshments throughout the day; or even surprise discounts at certain intervals. Get creative, and your customers will love you for it. The key to successful promotions is to think about them now, so everything is in place well before Small Business Saturday comes around.

  • Start talking about Small Business Saturday on social media.  Now is the time to let your customers know you’re participating in Small Business Saturday. Start talking up your special promotions, extended hours, or gift cards now. Put the bug in their ear, and keep posting about it. You’ll be sure to bring feet through the door and have people excited to shop with you.

  • Get together with other small businesses around your neighborhood to bring awareness and gain more supporters. Partnering with others is always a great way to bring in more customers. You can make great promotional deals together and create flyers that will help benefit all of you.

  • Have a raffle. A raffle will create a sense of fun throughout the day—and help you get contact information for new and old customers alike. This will allow you to build a marketing list that you can email throughout the year—ensuring you keep your customers coming back, even after Small Business Saturday is over.

  • Say thank you. Make sure to thank every person who walks through your door. Small Business Saturday is a great way to show your current and future customers you appreciate them and their support.
